Any Time Money from Agriculture, T. Lakshmi, from Goridindla village of Atmakur Mandal
From 25 cents, Anantapur’s T. Lakshmi earns ₹22K in 5 months via natural farming. Her “ATM Model”, supported by AF-EC, ensures year-round income & nutrition without chemicals. Here is how it happened: At a time when Agriculture is turning into a costly affair, a woman farmer from Anantapur has turned it into a successful enterprise on a small bit of land, while keeping the health of commonman in mind and not using chemical fertilizers. In just 25 cents of land (¼ acre), T. Lakshmi, from Goridindla village, has successfully added Rs. 22,000 to her family income in five months after all expenses, cultivating vegetables, leafy greens, and millets (Pearl Millet, Jowar, etc.) through natural farming practices. Encouraged by the Accion Fraterna Ecology Centre (AF-EC), she, along with her family members, has ensured all nutrition needs are taken care of by toiling on their small piece of land. This model of cultivation also ensures income to the family round-the-year, and the AF-EC has christened it as an ATM (Any Time Money) Model. Lakshmi not only strengthens her own livelihood but also contributes to the food and nutrition security of others in the village.

Farming, Leader
The cultivating practice of commercially important crops is called farming. Almost 58% of India’s population is involved in agriculture, but this sector contributes to only 15.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The cropping system in India is based on the winter and rainy seasons and is mainly classified as Kharif, Rabi, and seeds.
